I have previously discussed several simple ways of expanding your home library through purchasing book sets, using custom book binding services and even using near equivalents of "fake" books in form of high-quality blank books and journals. Now, there is another way of building your book collection that ensures that you only get quality books: book clubs, or book clubs of the month, as they are often called. The great thing about such book purchasing programs is that they are currently well diversified. You can subscribe to one of more book club that targets a very specific segment of the book market. Some examples include:History Book Club
Home Style Books
The Literary Guild
Military Book Club
Mystery Guild
Here are some typical benefits of such book clubs:
- Save up to 40% off publishers' edition prices on every book.
- Earn Bonus Credits for every regular club-priced purchase redeemable for additional savings of up to 60%.
- Recommendations and book reviews by professional historians plus 1st chapter excerpts and author interviews.
- Receive a FREE club magazine with book reviews, exclusive features, special promotions and more!
- Enjoy convenient shopping anytime and anywhere via the club magazine or on the club web site.
- No cards to return when you respond online.
I just want to add one more thing. Books are different in one respect from a lot of other things. Typically, when you buy a book it is in the same condition whether you want to keep it or give to someone as a present. If you buy an mp3 player it is difficult to give it as a present unless it's in the original packaging. What this means, is that you can very easily decide to use the books you get from a book club as gifts. Not a bad solution!
